Eligibility: Must be female primary wage earner of the family. Individuals should be pursuing post high school training or certification programs not necessarily requiring a baccalaureate degree. Must use the Rose Scholarship to attend an accredited educational institution and normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum and normally has a regularly enrolled body of students in attendance at the place where its educational activities are regularly carried on. This scholarship may fund a certification program such as law enforcement, fire training, education at a technical school or a community college. Financial need is determined by consideration of annual family income. Must be a resident of the Zonta International District 10 and U.S. Citizen. Consideration shall be given to good citizenship, character, reputation, moral and ethical standing drawn from a personal interview. The scholarship is $1000. Deadline for submission is March 1, 2011
*Rose Scholarship (LOCAL) &(District)
Eligibility: Brownsville Public High School Seniors who have a financial need, outstanding grades and community involvement. Each of the 5 public high schools need to have at least 3 applicants per High School in order to be considered. Each scholarship is in the amount of $750.00. Deadline for submission is March 1, 2011
Mattie Hargis was a long time devoted member of the Zonta Club of Brownsville and past Governor of District 10. Mattie believed that knowledge was the key to success on all fronts. And you better not miss a meeting or you would hear from her. It was she that began the tradition of paying the registration fee so that members could attend and gain more knowledge and understanding and be able to see the world wide scope of Zonta International.
